This paper describes the qualitative technique approach in an attempt to understand child personality with regards to social networking sites. It was applied during the user requirement phase. We used a probes diary approach to collect qualitative data from selected children.Seven children from 10-13 years old participated in the study and completed the diary. In this paper, we describe about our probes diary approach with young children participants. We have identified seven important elements in designing diaries for children. We believe that the work presented in this paper might help other researchers to design children's diary for their own research

Using diary to uncover users' personal information management (PIM) behaviours

There are various techniques used in HCI to understand users’ personal information management (PIM). behaviours. In our project, we used a diary as a technique to uncover more dumping factors as embedded behaviour that users might have while managing their information on their personal information spaces (PIS). In this paper, we described how we conducted a diary study and highlighted how our diary study affected our data. Later, we suggest how a diary study can better be implemented in a HCI project

Doing The Single Person Study in Human Computer Interaction (HCI)

This paper presents how a single person study can be done in the field of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). This single person study was explored using a participant observation method known as Friendship Observation that utilises more personal data gathering tools such as diary studies, text messages and personal emails. Since interpretation of the data was done based on the research-subject relationship, some ethical issues related to the reliability, and validity of the data were raised. Despite this criticism, this type of study can offer some potential benefits to HCI community such as a methodology for a user-centred design and designing affective interaction

A user-centered design: Methodological tools to design and develop computer games for motor-impaired users

User-Centered Design (UCD) is a term to describe design processes which focus on designing for and involving users in the design of applications The implementation of UCD in the game design process can enhance the user experience especially for special needs users such as motor-impaired users (MIU).This is very important, since the user experience will eventually be a significant element in the computer game’s success. The main objective of this study is to investigate UCD as a methodological tool to design and develop enjoyable games for MIU.The findings of the study showed users’ feedback on game design for MIU while applying UCD methods to game improvement and evaluation.Hopefully, the results of the study will emphasize the need for developing enjoyable game designs for MIU
